Our Mission
Junior Achievement of North Central Michigan, Inc. began operations in 1952. Today the local franchise serves school age children in 18 counties including Bay, Midland, Saginaw, Clare, Gladwin, Isabella and Gratiot Counties. JA’s original acceptance was sparked by the same community awareness that fuels it today - intuitive business and education leaders introducing our future community leaders to the free enterprise system.
JA’s purpose is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics in order to improve the quality of their lives. Our mission is to ensure that every child has a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system. This is accomplished by developing in young people the desire to stay in school and appreciate life-long learning. A common thread throughout every JA program is the encouragement of positive attitudes toward work and contributing to a diverse society. Our volunteer classroom consultants not only present JA’s curriculum, they also share valuable experiences with the students helping to bring the free enterprise system to life while underscoring the importance of education.
